With terms of 6 months to 5 years, use a Share Certificate as a savings tool for retirement, education expenses or a home purchase. Or, use the dividends (paid out monthly for terms of at least 1 year) for additional income. Deposits are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration.

Tip! Save more with a certificate laddering strategy.

Use a certificate laddering strategy to take advantage of higher rates without tying up all of your investment long-term.

Example: If you have $30,000 to invest, put $10,000 into a 1-, 2-, and 3- year certificate. As the 1-year certificate comes due, you are able to access those funds if needed, or keep the ladder going by renewing it for a 3-year certificate at a higher rate. From that point, a certificate will renew every year, giving you the option of using those funds or renewing for a 3-year term.

*APY= Annual Percentage Yield. Savings rates are variable and are subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Annual percentage yields are based on the reinvestment of principal and interest for one full year. Dividends are compounded and paid monthly. A penalty will be imposed for early withdrawal on certificates including IRA Certificates. Minimum to open and obtain APY for these Share Certificates is $500. Fees may reduce earnings. Certificate Renewal Policy: Share Certificates automatically renew at the time of maturity. CRFCU will provide 30 days notice prior to the maturity date. If you do not contact CRFCU on or before the maturity date, the account will renew with the following terms, at the rate current at the time of renewal. For certificates with maturities of greater than 90 days, you will have a 7-day grace period after the maturity date to withdraw the funds in the account without being charged an early withdrawal penalty. Please refer to your Terms and Disclosures for more detailed savings information. Annual Percentage Yields shown are effective as of 6/05/18.
