Deposit Operations Specialist

Location: Latham, NY
Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Headquarters, Latham, New York
Reports to: Operations Manager

Summary

As a Deposit Operations Specialist at CRFCU, you play a crucial role in supporting the Operations Manager and various departments within the credit union. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure smooth and efficient handling of all deposit operations activities, providing outstanding support and service to our members. This in-office position is pivotal in maintaining compliance with Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail, high integrity, and strong organizational skills.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Member Engagement: Make members and potential members feel valued through friendly greetings, active listening, and timely problem-solving.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Transaction Processing: Handle foreign items, account maintenance, electronic payment processing, exception item processing, enrollments, disputes, and debit card matters.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Stay current with regulatory requirements, create and develop reports, and ensure compliance with all internal and regulatory standards.
  • Operational Support: Provide backup to other Deposit Operations Specialists, perform audits, review BSA and fraud reports, and participate in the review and dispute resolution processes.
  • Customer Service: Address member requests promptly and effectively, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC and FinCEN regulations.
  • Conduct research and reviews to detect suspicious activities and ensure compliance.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing compliance reports for timely submission.
  • Collaborate with team members and management to maintain a strong compliance framework.
  • Support the Bank Secrecy Act Manager in administrative tasks and initiatives related to BSA/AML/OFAC compliance.

Qualifications:

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: High School diploma required; Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience: 2 years in Bank Secrecy Act or financial services-related roles preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn department-specific software.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities with a consistent and informed decision-making process.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve shared goals.
  • Multitasking: Efficient in handling multiple tasks/projects in a high-pressure environment.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
