Financial Service Representative

Location: Latham, NY/North Greenbush, NY
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Branch Manager
Pay Range: $23.56 – $30.00/hr

Summary

Assists in building valued financial relationships with our members by actively recommending and cross-selling Community Resource Federal Credit Union products and services that best meet our members’ financial needs while providing outstanding professional service and answering all member inquiries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responds promptly and professionally to member inquiries via mail, email, or telephone by the end of the business day, consistently meeting service standards and delivering exceptional member service.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for member engagement by reviewing credit reports, financial history, and other interactions, utilizing open-ended questions and active listening techniques.
    • Handles all loan or deposit account requests, which includes individual retirement accounts and certificates of deposit.
    • Uses sound lending judgment and makes recommendations.
    • Actively cross-sells and establishes all services to members and potential members to meet their financial needs.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all credit union products and services along with the benefits and features of each.
    • Reviews credit reports on all new member accounts.
    • Identifies fraud and refers as necessary.
    • Demonstrate credit union values.
    • Utilize products and services to meet member’s needs.
    • Contribute to and maintain corporate goals pertaining to lending, membership growth, and business development while representing the Credit Union in a professional manner.
    • Develops community relationships for future growth.
    • Manages time, prioritizes tasks, and makes decisions with moderate autonomy, seeking guidance when needed to stay aligned with objectives.
    • Maintains confidentiality of member accounts and information.
    • Visits our dealer partners occasionally with Loan Manager.
    • Remains current on policies, procedures, regulations, and any legal issues that affect the credit union industry.
    • Ensures all compliance and internal security controls are followed.
    • Maintains knowledge of teller functions and transactions and assists as needed.
    • Maintain loan queue with continuous follow-up to ensure timely funding of loans and excellent member service.
    • Work with marketing and Business Development for attendance of community events.
    • Performs any other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (A. A. / A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and/or one to three years related experience and/or training, especially experience in lending; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn department-specific software.
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities with a consistent and informed decision-making process.
    • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve shared goals.
    • Multitasking: Efficient in handling multiple tasks/projects in a high-pressure environment.

     

    Additional Requirements

    • Physical Demands: Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.

      Service Associate (Teller)

      Summary: Responsible for coordinating and supervising all aspects of teller operations within the branch and ensuring the daily activities of the teller line are performed in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner by performing the following duties.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      1. Orders and conducts cash management duties.
      2. Maintains knowledge of teller line operational procedures.
      3. Provides working leadership and guidance to tellers through assignment of work and by providing technical guidance with good leadership skills.
      4. Motivates others as necessary.
      5. Participates in branch incentive programs by promoting and participating in a sales and service culture consistent with the credit union’s business plan and goals.
      6. Assisting in the coaching, training, and development of tellers.
      7. Assists tellers in solving member problems and aid tellers with balancing problems by servicing as an operational reference.
      8. Researches and resolves member questions, problems, or concerns by telephone, written correspondence, email, or in person.
      9. Orders and maintains vault cash.
      10. Balances and maintains cash dispense machines.
      11. Adheres to and enforces all security procedures as well as other departmental policies and procedures.
      12. Refers and cross-sells credit union products and services to meet or exceed sales goals.
      13. Investigates teller losses and institutes a corrective flow of work.
      14. Responsible for maintenance and security of all negotiable instruments housed in the branch.
      15. Performs other duties as assigned.

        Education & Experience:

        • High School (or GED) required.
        • Minimum of six months cash handling and customer service experience. Prior financial experience is a plus.
        • Computer proficiency.
        • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others.
        • Demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and objectives.
