Assistant Branch Manager
Location: Latham, NY/North Greenbush, NY
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Senior Branch Manager
Pay Range: $65,000 – $73,000
Summary
The Assistant Branch Manager supports branch leadership in overseeing daily operations, staff performance, and member service to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality service delivery. This role helps develop and coach team members, reinforces a strong sales and service culture, and contributes directly to branch growth and profitability through active participation in lending, account opening, and member support activities. The position assists with performance monitoring, staffing coverage, and regulatory compliance, while promoting teamwork, community involvement, and alignment with the credit union’s mission, values, and operational standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, train, coach, and engage staff to maintain a high-performing, service-focused team.
- Foster a strong sales and service culture aligned with organizational goals and marketing strategies.
- Lead branch sales activities and actively participate in daily branch operations, including loans, new accounts, and member service, ensuring efficient workflows, exceptional service, and overall branch growth and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, security standards, audits, and regulatory requirements (including BSA).
- Provide guidance in resolving complex member issues and operational challenges.
- Oversee appropriate staffing schedules, filling in as needed for staffing vacancies.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify opportunities to improve revenue and efficiency, and support budget planning.
- Promote new products, services, and digital banking solutions to enhance member engagement.
- Foster teamwork across branches and departments and participate in community events and organizational initiatives.
- Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and commitment to the Credit Union’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Qualifications:
Qualifications and Skills
- Education/Experience:
Minimum associate’s degree or at least 2 years equivalent experience in financial services industry and minimum 2 Years Teller or cash handling experience in a financial institution or retail environment required. Minimum 1 Year Supervisory or leadership experience in a financial institution or retail environment preferred.
NMLS registration
Maintain NYS Notary Public license or required to obtain a Notary Public within 6 months - Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn department-specific software.

- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities with a consistent and informed decision-making process.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve shared goals.
- Multitasking: Efficient in handling multiple tasks/projects in a high-pressure environment.
Additional Requirements
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
